Baby Milestone Timeline
Enter your baby's birth date — or your due date if you're expecting — to see the stage they're in now and the milestones coming next, from first smiles to first steps. Milestones are ranges, not deadlines.
How it works
- Choose whether you're entering a birth date or a due date.
- Pick the date.
- See your baby's current age, the milestones typical around now, and what's coming next.
- Remember milestones are ranges — for babies born early, count from the due date.

Common questions
When do babies hit their milestones?
Milestones arrive across wide age ranges. For example, many babies roll by 4–6 months, sit unaided around 6–8 months, and take first steps anywhere from about 9 to 18 months. Reaching them earlier or later within the range is usually completely normal.
Should I use birth date or due date?
If your baby was born at term, use the birth date. If they were born early, developmental expectations are usually based on corrected age — so count from the original due date, generally until about age two.
What if my baby seems behind?
A single late milestone often isn't a concern, but you know your baby best. If several are delayed, or your baby loses a skill, talk with your doctor or child-health nurse — early support is most effective when started promptly.
