Start with your own priorities. Use our practical tracker checklist to test logging, corrections, sharing and export before deciding. Cocoon appears first because it is our product; the order is not a tested ranking.
Choosing a free baby tracker
Compare the tasks, costs and sharing options that matter to your family. This guide is written by Cocoon, one of the products listed.
Cocoon best free all-rounder
Best all-rounder with every feature free right now: offline-first logging, next-nap and feed windows, a night-by-night sleep program, a private photo & video journal, recorded growth and CDC charts from age two, a checkup report, multi-caregiver sync and a full export — with no ads and no subscription.
Huckleberry
Huckleberry's sleep tooling and content are genuinely strong, and its free tier includes multi-caregiver sync. The trade-off is that its most-loved predictive features and sleep plans are paid, and it's cloud-based rather than offline-first. Cocoon gives next-nap windows and a guided sleep program free, with the forecast method published.
Nara Baby
Nara includes unlimited caregivers and Apple Watch support in its paid plans. After the seven-day trial, a plan is needed to add new entries; existing records remain viewable and exportable. Cocoon is free right now and supports importing Nara CSV exports. Cocoon offers planning estimates with a published method, a private journal and checkup reports, but does not yet offer an Apple Watch app or infant growth percentiles. Growth is recorded below age two, with CDC percentiles from age two.
Baby Daybook
Baby Daybook is a thoughtful, easy logger, and its Premium is reasonably priced with a lifetime option. The difference is what's free: in Cocoon, next-nap windows, recorded growth and CDC charts from age two, the doctor's report and caregiver sync are all free today, alongside a photo and video journal and offline-first logging.
Glow Baby
Glow Baby is free to start and part of a family of apps that follow you from cycle to pregnancy to parenting. In Glow, adding caregivers needs the Premium Family Plan; in Cocoon, caregiver sync, next-nap windows and the sleep program are free today, with a private photo journal and a full export of your data and media.
Baby Tracker (Nighp)
Baby Tracker does the daily log well and simply. Where Cocoon goes further is next-nap windows, a guided sleep program, the built-in keepsake journal, evidence-based guides, growth percentiles and a full export of your media as well as your logs.
Ovia Parenting
Ovia is free and full of content. The main consideration is its data-and-advertising model — worth reading its privacy policy — whereas Cocoon shows no ads and never sells data.
Baby Connect
Baby Connect's caregiver sync is excellent. The differences: it's a paid app, and Cocoon adds next-nap windows, a guided sleep program, a private photo/video journal, built-in guides and a free, full export with no lock-in.
Common questions
What is the best free baby tracker?
The best fit depends on the tasks your family needs: logging, shared care, export, offline use or memories. This is Cocoon’s own comparison, not an independent ranking. Try your everyday tasks in a small sample and check current costs and device support with each provider.
Which free baby tracker predicts naps?
Cocoon can show timing estimates when enough recorded history is available, with its method and limits published. Some other apps offer nap predictions as part of a paid plan — Huckleberry's SweetSpot and Baby Daybook's sleep predictions, for example — so check what's included before you commit.
Are free baby trackers private?
It varies a lot. Some free apps are funded by advertising or data sharing, so always read the privacy policy. Cocoon shows no ads, never sells data, uses row-level security and lets you export and delete everything.
Do free baby trackers work offline?
Many are cloud-based and need a connection. Cocoon is offline-first, so you can log a 3am feed with no signal and it syncs automatically later.
