These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Cocoon mobile app and this website (together, the "Service"), provided by Brent Satill ("Cocoon", "we", "us"), based in Australia. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.
1. The Service
Cocoon is a parenting and caregiving utility for logging your child's feeds, sleep, nappies, growth, health notes and milestones, keeping a private photo and video journal, viewing trends, and reading general baby-care guides. Features are provided "as is" and may change, improve or be discontinued over time.
2. Not medical advice
Cocoon is for observation and context only. It provides general information, not medical advice, and is not a medical device. Nothing in the Service — including trends, growth charts, guides or the in-app assistant — is a diagnosis or a substitute for professional care. Always seek the advice of your doctor, child-health nurse or another qualified health provider with any questions about your child's health, and never disregard or delay professional advice because of something you read or saw in Cocoon. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be an adult (18+) able to form a binding contract to use Cocoon. The Service is intended for use by adult parents and caregivers; it is not directed to children, and a child may not create their own account. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity under your account. The records in Cocoon describe a child, but the account is held and controlled by you, the adult.
4. Caregivers you invite
Cocoon lets you invite other caregivers to share access to a child's records. By inviting someone, you confirm you're authorised to share that information with them, and you're responsible for who you invite. Anyone you invite is also bound by these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service — including by attempting to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to it, uploading unlawful or infringing content, or using it to harm others. You agree to use the Service only for lawful, personal, family caregiving purposes.
6. Your content and data
The information, photos and videos you add are yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the Service for you — to store, process, sync and display your content to you and the caregivers you invite. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising. You can export everything (your full log, measurements, journal entries and media) at any time, and delete your account and data on request. Our handling of your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
7. Availability and free access
Every feature is free to use today, with no subscription. We may introduce paid features in the future; if we do, we'll make any changes clear in advance and won't retroactively charge you for what was free. We aim for high reliability but don't guarantee the Service will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and Cocoon is offline-first by design so your data remains on your device.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to those rights, to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the Service.
9. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms from time to time; we'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. Continued use after changes means you accept them. You may stop using Cocoon and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these Terms are seriously or repeatedly breached.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia and the state or territory in which the provider is based, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
