Caregivers sometimes use this phrase when they notice several new skills. It is an informal description, not a diagnosis or a date that Cocoon can calculate from a birthday or due date.
A developmental milestone is an observable skill on an age-specific checklist. CDC provides those checklists and explains that they do not replace validated developmental screening. A new skill and a difficult night may happen together without the diary establishing that one caused the other.
“Reached for a toy today” is an observation. “A leap caused every wake-up this week” is an explanation that the observation does not establish. Record the skill, date and context, and bring concerns about missing or lost skills to your child’s clinician.
